It all started with drawings. So many drawings.
Along the line graphic design came into the picture and I tried to express myself through graphic design. However the intent of graphic design is more directed towards a commercial use, rather than telling a story. Which it can do sometimes (don’t get me wrong) but I found myself to be quickly reaching the limit of what I could do, regarding storytelling and creatively.
I’ve always been taking photographs since I can remember. Photography quickly introduced me to filmmaking. I took photos and filmed for a good part of my youth. From landscape photography to photos and videos from documenting the Thai nightlife.
It was only after the frustration that graphic design gave me that I started to look at my camera in a different way.
With photography it was suddenly possible to control each step of my creative process.
Picked up my camera and went on to learn how to use it properly.
The ability to tell a story was suddenly made possible.
I immediately concentrated on doing just that. Finding stories that, to me, had a particular significance.
The idea is to be able to show people that complicated topics can be understandable if you take the time to focus on it. Unfortunately not everybody has the time to do so. So I set out to learn it myself and "translate it", or “dumb it down” so that it would be accessible for anyone that has a few minutes to spare. I know that my documentaries won’t make people experts in any domain that I cover but maybe, just maybe it can inspire them to look at them more in depth.
For now 10years I have been documenting, learning and preparing the time where I would be ready to make my work public.
This time, I believe, has come.
I hope you enjoy what I have to show as much as I enjoyed doing it.
